About

About Ironbirch

A small Mississauga studio teaching calm, practical self-defense since 2019.

Who we are

Ironbirch opened its doors in Mississauga in 2019, operating as Current Jiu Jitsu Ltd., with a simple idea: self-defense education should feel approachable, not alarming. We started with a single evening class and grew slowly as word spread among commuters, shift workers and parents who wanted their teenagers to carry themselves with more confidence on the walk home.

Today the studio runs three courses on a fixed weekly rhythm, taught in small groups so every learner gets individual attention.

What we do

We teach three courses covering awareness and route planning, standing escapes and measured striking, and a longer pathway that adds ground get-ups and scenario practice.

Where we are

The studio sits in Mississauga, Ontario, near the Kitimat Road corridor, and most of our students come from across the surrounding Peel Region. Classes run on Eastern Time (ET) — Mississauga during Monday – Saturday, 14:00–20:30.

How we work

Measured pace

Drills are scaled to each learner's comfort level rather than run at one fixed intensity.

Written sequence

Every class follows the same lesson plan, so consistency doesn't depend on which coach is teaching.

Open communication

Questions are welcome mid-course, not saved for a single feedback moment.

New coaches shadow a full course cycle before leading one on their own, so the written lesson sequence stays the shared reference rather than something each person reinterprets. If a class runs short on a particular drill, that drill carries forward to the next session rather than being skipped, which is part of why the weekly rhythm matters more here than any single class.
